An integrated assessment of the approaches used

An integrated assessment of the approaches used for determining the effectiveness of interventions in relation to the innovative approaches developed in WP2 and development of the INTCATCH business model in WP11.

Life Cycle Costing report (LCC)

Life Cycle Costing report (LCC) Deliverable description: The report includes: (i) cost indicators (link with D9.1), description and analysis of scenarios for INTCATCH cost analysis that will be used in the LCC, (ii) methodology for the cost benefit analysis based on the LCC approach, (iii) LCC results, outcome of the economic impact assessment including cost constraints and benefits and market initiatives and barriers (link with the exploitation strategy of WP11 and D11.1-11.3 and D2.2).

Field and laboratory and combined visualizers

Field and laboratory and combined visualizers: Web and mobile applications: in T7.4 two applications will be developed, (i) the first, that can be used during monitoring campaigns to upload data and see visualize the data while is being collected, will be provided through common digital distribution platforms (e.g., Google Play, Apple App Store, etc.); (ii) the second is a web application that can be used by environmental agencies or other NGOs, and possibly by local citizens and tourists, that will provide visualizers for geo-referenced data coming from WAIS

Validation of biosensors

Validation of biosensors. Report on full characterisation of e-coli and pesticide nano-biosensors based on electro/optical systems including their analytical performance ( reproducibility, detection limit, range of response and interferences) in both synthetic and real samples.

Franchise Business Model

Franchise Business Model The INTCATCH products and services will come together to form a franchise business offer. This business model will be created ready for exploitation by month 36.

Technical DSS system report.

Technical DSS system report. The report will include (i) The DSS as an holistic integrated tool for the management and monitoring of water quality in basins (ii) a description of the flexibility of the software tool and its capacity to be adapted to different environments (iii) a summary of how the application of the DSS in Garda Lake and the UK rivers informs on use of the INTCATCH tools.

Indicators and life cycle inventories

Indicators and life cycle inventories Deliverable description: Report on (i) the methodology of the selection, calculation and analysis of target environmental and economic indicators for the INTCATCH products, (ii) interrelation of indicators with the monitoring of the environmental and economic performance of the INTCATCH systems, (iii) questionnaire (electronic form) and summary of the results of questionnaires/interviews to that will be distribute to target audience for the quantification of specific indicators and the development of the life cycle inventory (iv) database with the quantified indicators.

Heavy metal sensors and integration.

Heavy metal sensors and integration. Heavy metal sensors and integration plastic/paper-based electrochemical stripping sensors for heavy metals (Cd, Pb) along with the Technical record and non-expert summary. A batch of 10 printed sensors (each one containing 20 three-electrode systems: working, reference and counter electrode). The metal sensors will be applied in the robotic boats. Validation will relate to selectivity, sensitivity, limit of detection, precision and response time.

Plan for the Exploitation and Dissemination of Results (PEDR)

Plan for the Exploitation and Dissemination of Results (PEDR) This INTCATCH PEDR will summarise the partners’ strategy and concrete actions related to the protection, dissemination and exploitation of the project results generated by the project. The working draft will be delivered by Month 6 and this will then be maintained and refreshed throughout the project with a final version in month 44. This will ensure ongoing coordination and exploitation of IPR throughout the project so that the full business model is demonstrated through the demonstration events in T10.3 and will aim to deliver at least two INTCATCH expert visits and one INTCATCH franchise by month 44.

Lake Water quality model (Lake Garda).

Lake Water quality model (Lake Garda). Deliverable description: Report will contain (i) an inventory of existing environmental data (ii) the set-up of the hydrodynamic and water quality model (iii) the calibration and validation of model using data both existing and coming from the ad hoc monitoring.

Report of results obtained in the River Ter (location: Ripoll-Sau reservoir).

Report of results obtained in the River Ter (location: Ripoll-Sau reservoir). Five robotic boats will operate for 12 months, each boat will test 5 different probes, for at least 5 different parameters over the year, in the lab more than 500 analytical measurements will be taken. The report includes (i) the transferability of the INTCATCH system to a river, (ii) adjustments of the monitoring system and INTCATCH tools and (iii) optimized solutions for monitoring and management of River Ter and (iv) a photographic record.

Lake Garda, Urban London and Great Ouse validation activity

Lake Garda, Urban London and Great Ouse validation activity: report in English on the validation activities performed in Lake Garda, tributaries of the Thames river and the Great Ouse catchment. The validation activities will involve a total of 10 Autonomous boats and 2 ARC boats.

Demonstration of the DSS

Demonstration of the DSS. The computer-based online DSS rule-based system for future water quality monitoring strategies will be demonstrated in Spain and Greece, informing the management of water bodies via measures in river basin plans (RBPs)

Life Cycle Analysis report (LCA). Deliverable description: This report includes the life cycle impact assessment of current and developed monitoring and treatment systems. Report on (i) environmental indicators (link with D9.1), LCA methodology, analysis of the current and INTCATCH scenarios, determination of the impact categories (ii) LCA results of individual systems and integrated INTACTCH products, quantified environmental impacts and benefits, (iii) release on LCA results

Water Information System (WAIS)

Water Information System (WAIS). Technical record of WAIS, including support for distributed and efficient execution of complex geo-referenced queries, validation report and non-expert summary describing its functionalities

Communication activities report

Communication activities report (all the communication activities will be described and evaluated here). These include the INTCATCH Brand and logo, the actions to communicate to the public, the INTACTCH website use of social media, Notice Boards and the Engagement with European Commission. Initial version available at month 12.

Lake Yliki demonstration report

Report of results obtained in the Lake Yliki (location: Ethniki Odos Athina-Thessaloniki, 95th Km) . An evaluation report from the demonstration event will be produced, which will include an analysis of resources used and costs incurred.

Report on innovative monitoring strategies: Integrating - an empirical approach to meeting catchment monitoring needs in generic and targeted catchments in the UK, Italy, Greece and Spain. To identify technologies and tools required to meet those needs, including emerging field monitoring technologies balanced with end user uptake needs and requirements

Set-up of integrated platforms

Set-up of integrated platforms. Benchmarking and selection of most suitable sensors, technologies and their combination for monitoring chemical water quality indicators and ecological stressors identified in D2.1. Evaluation of their “fitness-for-purpose” for each scenario and strategy. Feasibility of integration on the boat platforms (WP4), in terms of size, power requirements and suitable output (volts / amps)

DSS operational set-up (Lake Garda)

DSS operational set-up (Lake Garda ). The report will include (i) a summary review of the rules, processes and parameters included in the DSS, (ii) the description of the implementation of the operative procedures (iii) the dynamic linkage with external modules for the numerical simulations and data exchange.

Dissemination activities report

Dissemination activities report. All the dissemination activities will be described and evaluated in this report. The evaluation will be made against pre-set quantified indicators. The dissemination actions that will be reported include movie clips to demonstrate INTCATCH in action, INTCATCH brochures, liaison activities with ongoing FP7 and H2020 WATER related projects, Scientific Publications, Conferences and Trade Shows and the INTCATCH International Conference. Initial version available at month 12.

Report on current monitoring strategies and tools

D2.1 Report on current monitoring strategies and tools: Setting out important water quality indicators, catchment characteristics and existing monitoring approaches in the context of outcomes required of future (RBP2-led) monitoring programmes. Initial analysis on requirements to address the current monitoring shortfalls, including input from end users, along with specific catchment characteristics of the evaluation sites in the UK; Italy; Greece and Spain

Training activities report.

Training activities report. A critical review of training activities undertaken in London, Garda and during WP8. The workshops will also discuss with end users the experience which has been gained from the implementation of the project. and how this has been used to improve the INTCATCH products. Participant-lists for all trainings will be included in the annexes.

Communication plan specifying the message that is to be communicated, the target group(s) to which each communication method addresses, the type of communication means that are employed, the way that the effectiveness of the communication methods will be evaluated). An initial version will be available at month 3.

BlueGate customization: Technical record of the customised architecture, including integration of meta-data and WAIS specification + non-expert summary describing its functionalities.

Boat platform engineering

Boat platform engineering: a set of 10 autonomous platforms and 2 ARC boat equipped with the range of sensors identified in WP3 (D3.1). The engineered platforms will be able to connect to the INTCATCH Information System of WP7. A report in English will describe the procedures for transporting, starting, charging and maintaining the autonomous and ARC platforms allowing their use by non-experts with photographic and brief (3-5 minute) video support.

Software control packages

Software control packages: software packages to control the autonomous boats. The control software will be engineered and documented following best practices of software engineering. A report (in English) describing how to run and use the functionalities of the software for non-expert users will be provided.
