In many large cities, parking is a major issue, which can result in a number of environmental, economic and social problems. It is related to traffic congestion (causing 30% of the traffic in the city), with an important environmental impact. For drivers, poorly managed parking can be a waste of time and have an economic impact due to fuel cost.
Hi-Park Solutions smart parking application Sir-Park (Smart Integrated system for Reliable Parking information, search and guidance) integrates computer vision technology and mobile devices to crowd source on-street parking vacancy data in real time thus helping to reduce the time spent searching for a vacant space. Cities can use the collected data for planning traffic and parking infrastructures. It is also suitable for car embedding. Its computer vision algorithm has been validated in a relevant urban environment, in the city of Tel Aviv (Israel).
