Objetivo

The combustion of coal in front of the tuyeres presents a possible limit to increasing coal injection into the blast furnace. It is intended to build a laboratory furnace in which a fixed coke bed is heated to raceway temperatures. The objective is to determine the amount of char and soot, which leaves the cokebed. Various types of coal will be injected at injection rates of 100-400kg coal/tonne of hot metal. This project is complementary with projects from CSM (P2412) and from British Steel (P2445).
