Induction heating of refractory materials in continuous casting of steel

Objective

Uncontrolled solidification at the refractory material is a fundamental problem, especially for near net shape casting processes where refractory parts are in close contact with the cold mould, roll or belt. This uncontrolled solidification leads to unacceptable defects or even to an interruption of the casting process. A possible means to avoid or reduce such problems is to heat the refractory material by induction also during the casting process. Thus suitable refractory materials as well as methods for their inductive heating must be developed in order to investigate the technical feasibility of this process.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
