Objective
A real-time monitoring system to prevent breakouts is to be developed on the basis of temperature measurements along the mould wall. This system will then be incorporated in the control system of a continuous casting machine. The new feature of this system is the inductive contactless temperature measurement, which makes it possible to use monitoring systems of this kind for the casting of blooms and billets.
