Measures for behaving safely in traffic

Deliverables

Coaching methodology

Dissemination publication describing the coaching research methodology

Project website

Project website will be set up as one out of various media used for project communication.

Activity reports

Regular project updates. The means of circulating the updates will be specified within D.6.2. (M.12, M.24, M.36, M.42)

Final coaching scheme

Report detailing the final proposed coaching scheme

Vehicle Measures evaluation

Report describing the vehicle measures to be evaluated (M.15) as this workpackage includes virtual testing to make a pre-selection of possible solutions for implementation in a driver simulator, and to support the selection of test situations for the driver simulator studies. To complete the WP, tests in a driver simulator are performed, to make the final selection of those solutions that will be the basis for the field trials in WP5.

Final project report
Report Infrastructure measures

Report summarising the infrastructure measures to be tested in WP5 Report itself will be classified as CO but will serve as basis for Journal Publications containing a scientific evaluation of adaptive and active infrastructure measures directed towards drivers, tested in virtual environment.

Specification of nudges

Report specifying the infrastructure and cyclist nudges to be tested in WP5 (M.30) The Report will be a scientific summary of design, testing, and final selection of infrastructure measures directed towards cyclists, to be used for field testing in WP5.

Report on effective feedback

Report outlining detailed protocols on exactly what feedback works most effectively when given to drivers in what specific situation/ context/ frequency

Integrated framework

Report describing the integrated framework, the user profiling, and the consequent design criteria for the feedback measures

Results of field trials

Report summarizing the results of field trials.

Final measures

Report summarising the final measures proposed, and their impact This summary will contain three elaborate sections adressing workpackages 2,3 & 4 in which measures will be developed and suggested for field tests in workpackage 5. Each of these three sections will summarize the results per field trial, define the measure´s impact and end up with an evaluation section pointing out recommendations on further neccessary improvements on the measures (as a direct learning resulting from the field trials). Costs of running the system: The costs of running the MeBeSafe countermeasures naturally need to be deduced from the positive economic impact they will have in 2020, in order to present a balanced picture of their total economic impact. Hence, this deliverable will additionally contain a countermeasure implementation cost estimate that is as precise as possible in 2020. This will provide the best support for future road safety investment decision making.

Report simulation environment

Report summarising results of evaluation in simulation environment (M.22). To complete the WP, tests in a driver simulator are performed, to make the final selection and evaluation of solutions that will be tested in the field trials in WP5.

Report test vehicles

Report will summarise results of evaluation in test vehicles (M.28) A test vehicle will be prepare with the nudging system developed in WP2 and preliminary tests to check the correct functioning of the system will be conducted before the field tests in WP5. This Deliverable will create a report on the evaluation of the results.

Driver profiles and situations

Report summarising the driver profiles and situations under which the coaching scheme will be tested

Trial design

Minimum trial duration and population size required, data collection parameters, i.e. what data needs to be collected and with which resolution and accuracy, instruments, data analysis plan, predetermined thresholds for whether the evaluated measure is effective in terms of influencing driver behaviour in the intended way (i.e. determine what the necessary level of impact on behaviour is to be judged successful).

App to induce behavioral change

App that provides retrospective feedback to professional HGVs drivers based on real-time measured driving behaviour
