Presentation of results of process modelling analysis.

Experiences with advanced sensor technologies for improved furnace diagnostics

Report and evaluation of results of advanced sensors in large-scale facilities. Outcome for power plant operators prepared in concise form.

Detailed dissemination and innovation management plan

Report on the detailed dissemination, exploitation and communication measures conducted throughout the project. Implementation of a data management plan (DMP) with regard to Open Access and Open research guidelines. Additionally the innovation management strategy will be elaborated and responsibilities clarified.

Fuel characterisation and analysis of corrosion/fouling potential

Summary of all performed fuel analysis and first insights on corrosion/fouling potential based on work in Task2.2. All results of fuel analysis data from every partner is collected.

Influence of pre-treatment, blending and additives on ash composition

In lab-scale test residues from treated and untreated biomass as well as residues from combustion with and without additives and blending will be analysed and compared.

Status update on dissemination activities with industrial relevance

Continuous monitoring of possible dissemination opportunities for industry. Status report at the midterm meeting.

Risk and socioeconomic analysis

Report on the performed risk and socioeconomic analysis of the developed technologies.

Performance of biomass pre-treatment

Performance of pre-treatment on selected fuels. Provision of pre-treated fuels to relevant partners.

Fly ash formation model for biofuels

Report and dissemination of a detailed fly ash model predicting ash chemistry and size distribution while firing biofuels.

Environmental impact and resource efficiency of the developed technologies

Report on the emission and carbon footprint of FB and PF systems depending on the feedstock. Possible additional harms to the environment are regarded as well.

Comparison of treated and untreated fuels with regard to fuel properties, ash composition, ash properties, economics and resource efficiency

Detailed report on outcome of lab-scale experiments with possible insights for combustion behaviour, ash behaviour, milling behaviour and economic advantages.

Performance of tests lab-scale test rig

Status update and results of performed tests in the lab-scale test rig.

Classification of ashes and identification of possible future utilisation processes

Different classes of biomass ashes will be created depending on physical and chemical properties and assigned with utilisation options. An overview of possible utilisation options is created.

Performance of tests pilot-scale test rig

Status update and results of performed tests in the pilot-scale test rig.

Report on educational impact Biofficiency

Report on the performed summer school and implementation of outcome of the project in teaching of young researchers and relevant stakeholder groups.

Detailed risk management plan

The risk management will be implemented by a detailed plan established together with the Consortium during the beginning of the project. The rsik management plan will be revised two times during the project.

Material investigations for FB combustion systems

Report on the material tests for fluidised bed combustion with regard to corrosion potential etc.

Status update on dissemination activities with scientific relevance

Continuous monitoring of possible dissemination opportunities with scientific relevance (paper calls for conferences etc.). Status report at the midterm meeting.

Data collection and evaluation

Report on collected data and findings of correlating corrosion/deposition rates to fuel and ash chemistry, and process conditions. Improvement of power plant availability and combustion by thermal fuel pre-treatment.

Detailed Project Management Plan

To monitor the progress a detailed project management plan including a Gantt chart and a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) will be elaborated together with the Consortium. A schedule per task, responsible partner, related subtasks and deliverables as well as dependencies on other task will be included. The Data management plan will be revised 2 times in course of the project.

Draft for technical regulations for biomass ash utilisation in Europe

A draft version of a legislative text for biomass ash utilisation is provided by the Consortium in cooperation with the Strategic Advisory Board.

Establishment of a professional project website. Implementation of a data-sharing system for the project internal communication throughout the project.
