Objective
The objective of MIDAS is to develop a prototype modular integrated software environment for the analysis of electromagnetic devices. The system will be based on an open data structure built around STEP (the standard for the exchange of product model data).
The approach will be to develop an environment consisting of a graphical user interface, a 3D modeller and a command set for communication with the application programs. Information integration will be provided through a common database, enhanced to implement the STEP data access interface. Work will also include development of 2D- and 3D- pre- and post-processors to aid the input of data and the representation of analysis results.
The results would be tested at the site of a partner involved in the design of electrical devices and also by a number of SMEs.
The results will be used in various divisions of an industrial partner, and form the basis of a product which will be marketed by a consortium member who is a software vendor.
