Automation and Control Systems for Production Units Using an Installation Bus Concept

Objective

The objective of ASPIC is to develop a new generation of control architectures and components to enable the flexible and modular combination of existing manufacturing cell components. The work will build on existing, well-proven products and on existing and emerging interface standards.

The approach will be to:

-study and analyse production cell requirements and specify system performance and components
- develop an interface to the CIM environment
- develop a master controller for the production cell
- develop a flexible, modular, smart drive which interfaces to the system bus
- develop standard interfaces to low and high level sensors
- develop monitoring, testing and configuration tools
- integrate and evaluate the system.

A pilot demonstration and evaluation is planned at the site of a user partner. All components developed in the project will be marketed by the industrial partners as modules and as complete low cost production units.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
