Objective
Within an environment of interlinked manufacturing units (both inter- and intra-enterprise), a new approach based on loosely coupled decision-making subsystems has been proposed. Each of these subsystems would itself be capable of multi-level decision-making and consist of three modules for message passing, problem solving and domain modelling.
The objective of the DRMS-CIME working group is to identify solution paths and the methods to be followed in order to implement this proposed distributed system.
The working group will identify the requirements of different industries in different regions of the Community which could benefit from new solutions to this management problem. It will also examine ongoing work in similar fields within the ESPRIT programme and so enable the participants to get a foothold in major European developments in this field.
