Within the metamapper project, a stable microscopy platform, optimized for super-resolved imaging of fluorescently labeled DNA has been successfully obtained. The microscope platform was designed and built to be compact, yet able of diffraction unlimited imaging of microbiome DNA. This device was complemented with a dedicated analysis pipeline for the rapid and efficient content analysis of microbial mixtures. Our experiments have shown that the system is stable over time and does not need regular realignment, another important requirement for high-throughput optical DNA mapping. Having reached proof-of-concept, the system is currently in benchmark studies, as we move towards commercialization.
