The proposed areas of research include: - Analyse EU's strengths and weaknesses in developing NGI-related technologies; - Explore and map research activity and collaboration between academic institutions, with an emphasis on social issues; - Map activities of different stakeholders (open-source communities, public spending, VC) across Europe. The list of potential data sources include: Meetup (open source communities) STI Compass (OECD and EC project on mapping science, innovation and technology projects) SSRN (working papers and author affiliations for network analysis) Inomics (conferences and summer schools) ACM (conference proceedings, research metrics and special interest groups) This resource can be used by the EC to reach out to potentially interested partners for cascaded funding, and other modes of engagement with the NGI, as well.
