By 2025, that the population of European citizens aged over 65 years old are expected to grow from 18% (2015) to 22%. In the future, the demand for formal care services by the population is likely to grow substantially. European governments and care institutions are increasingly struggling to find a solution for the rising cost of elderly care (residential and home care). Although Information technology (IT) plays a key role towards more accessible, cost-efficient and patient-centred care, the healthcare industry, is one of the laggards when it comes to digitalization (Stafinski et al., 2011; Topol, 2010; Free et al., 2013). A study of the Vrije Universiteit Brussels and imec (2014) showed big opportunities for digitization for Belgian elderly care organisations. Pridiktiv elaborated on this study and found in a large needs assessment with 300+ caregivers that care personnel in the residential care sector has four main needs: On the workfloor - (i) too much administration, (ii) a shortage of real-live patient data and (iii) no time to brief colleagues on the status of patients; On organisational level - (iv) difficulties integrating different data silo’s inter/intra care residencies.

Nurses and care personnel increasingly struggle with administration and a shortage of personnel. This results in lower time that can be spent on caring for residents/patients. As elderly care organisations are consolidating rapidly, different data silos within an organisation is common. This leads to little overview on standard of care among the whole organisation.

The overall objective of the feasibility study will identify problems and opportunities in different European countries, determining if objectives and products need to be adjusted, and allow for successful outcomes in Phase 2. It will also generate leads, resellers and stakeholders through targeted market outreach.

During the project, several product tests, co-creation tests, market system analysis, legal frameworks, sales contacts & agreements have been made in different European countries.

A) Validation of the usability of features, user acceptance, sustainability of products in Belgium, France, Spain and Netherlands. Features which are still needed and are lacking today have been found for France, Spain and the Netherlands
B) Market studies towards customers, resellers and other relevant stakeholders has been completed for France, Spain, the UK and Southern Germany
C) The technical assessment shows that scalability will not be a problem in most countries (Spain, UK, France). However, for the German system, where elderly care residencies should keep data on local servers within an elderly care residence. Our cloud solutions could face very heavy oppositio by Germany's legal system. Other possible difficulties could be faced when setting up a finance component to the system, because every country is different in their legal setup of government finance to care residences, following the amount of patients with specific care needs. In a changing regulatory environment, Pridiktiv will not be able to follow every regulation and will look to develop a solution.
D) Regulatory and IP issues were studied for France and Spain. No blocking factors were discovered for the Pridiktiv products.
E) Strong follow-up opportunities were found for Spain regarding to integration partners and resellers

Pridiktiv is a mobile (smartphone, tablet & desktop) communication platform, which allows caretakers and medical personnel to reduce administration time with 66%, decrease briefing time with 85% and increase the quality of care by real-time up to date information. The platform allows care institutions to tap into the collective intelligence of its care personnel with the final goal to let caretakers focus on what they do best and allow care institutions to optimize time. Pridiktiv’s communication platform focuses on 3 pillars: real-time communication between care personnel, telemetric integration of sensors and medical devices and an intelligent algorithm (AI) that predicts care issues even before they occur.
