Mapping of innovative approaches

Identification of Innovative Approaches for the Integration of Migrant Children will be performed by ZRS, UW, UB, MMU, SDU, IPL and will focus in the use of digital technologies for positive integration by fostering the cultural capital of migrant children, which can help in the prevention of racism, xenophobia and other forms of intolerant behaviour and attitudes. In this task we will investigate the variety of ways in which digital technologies can be used for changing users’ attitudes or behaviour through persuasion and social influence;

Report on good practices from institutional perspective

Report on good practices from institutional perspective will focus on initiatives and good practices for tackling intolerance, stakeholders’ capacity-building, measures promoting multicultural education and strategies of inclusion, innovative use of digital technologies for positive integration by fostering the cultural capital of migrant children and similar. The reports will be done by ZRS, MMU, UB, UW, SDU and IPL.

Comparative survey analysis on newly arrived migrant children

The analysis will compare findings of national surveys to provide insight into the differences in measurable indicators their values and attitudes

State of the art: 6 national reports

State of the art national reports will present the structure of migrant communities in receiving countries, including existing datasets, statistics and other quantitative data; review of integration policies, initiatives and best practices on a national level.

Fieldwork with experts: 6 national reports

Fieldwork national reports will provide assessment of stakeholder needs; identification of gaps for programme development and further research directions will be addressed.

6 national policy recommendations based on national reports which will indicate the critical points and necessary steps for further development of policies from a childcentred perspective regarding childfriendly information for refugee and migrant children on access to rights and relevant procedures linguistic integration and language and other support measures

Crosscountry policy recommendation for media reporting will include ethics diversity management and promoting practices involving the active participation of young refugees and migrants

The reports will highlight the relationship between members of the educational community and migrant children, gaps in their knowledge, their perceptions, approach towards the integration of migrant children. Reports will also refer to principles of child-cantered education in managing diversity and to practices applied to promote cultural diversity in schools.

General cross-disciplinary report on preliminary results of research relating to scientific literature and data sets overview will provide in-depth overview of the general theoretical work conducted in the fields of sociology, anthropology, pedagogics, law, philosophy and (social) policy studies regarding the integration of migrant children in schools and of the methodological approaches used in empirical studies carried out in this field.

Review of methodological aspects in terms of indicators, factors and measurement concept of integration of migrant children and child-centred approach

Review of methodological aspects in terms of indicators, factors and measurement concept of integration of migrant children and child-centred approach (month 6) The analysis will include a thorough review of existing national and foreign literature in various disciplinary fields, including a review of methodological issues related to the study of integration and of approaches in fieldwork with children, particularly focusing on ethics and potential research obstacles.

National reports will give an insight into how longterm residents have experienced the integration processes where they think are the main problems and shortcomings what are the positive aspects etc

The report will include in-depth examination of policy instruments and legal regulations will be conducted to assess integration policies across study regions, and activities undertaken by European and national agencies in the field of migration/integration in schools through policy analysis and case studies. It will also focus on review of ‘grey’ literature – that is, policy documents using both on- and off-line methods – to assess the current knowledge base on migrant children’s integration.

The comparative report on reception communities will analyse and compare data from 6 national studies that will be done in this WP (state of the art, fieldwork with experts and political and media discourse).

Cross-country policy recommendation for children in hotspots, detention centres, camps, asylum homes

Crosscountry policy recommendation for children in hotspots detention centres camps asylum homes will reflect on appropriate standards for the reception and accommodation of refugee and migrant children and alternatives to detention childfriendly procedures family reunification and childfriendly information

Survey analysis on newly arrived migrant children will provide information about measurable indicators of migrant inclusion their values and attitudes

Case study reports will deliberate on the situation in Lampedusa in Italy Calais in France Moria in Greece Harran Container City anlurfa in Turkey Linin Reception Camp in Poland and asylum home in Slovenia and detention centres in Austria The reports will describe child experiences in places of transit

Analytical national reports on policy will highlight relevant findings and gaps in integration policies and evaluating the extent of a childcentred perspective

Report on child-centred approach across disciplines

Report on child-centred approach across disciplines will, corresponding to the project’s principal focus, provide thorough analysis of the ontologies of the child-centred approach across disciplines. It will also provide an account of the state of the art of methodologies applied with children and especially vulnerable and migrant children, as well as the methodologies used and developed within the child-centred approach.

Reports will describe childrens experiences of life in new social and cultural environments wellbeing in terms of what is important to them in their present situation as well as give an overview of the advantages and weaknesses of existing models of migrant childrens integration from a childcentred perspective
