Report to be submitted to EURAMET TC-EM describing the potentials of QAHE for quantum resistance standards, once methods for QAHE measurements at PTB are established and their results have been analysed.

Single photon emission into topological waveguides (opens in new window)

Report on the coupling of single photons into hybrid waveguides where photonic modes are topologically protected and phononic modes are either topologically protected or dispersion engineered. The viability of such a system for decoherence-free light-matter interactions will be discussed. Finally, the viability of photonic-electronic integration in hybrid topological structures will be reported.

Integration of TIs and optomechanical structures (opens in new window)

Report on coupled hybrid structures and the effects of confined optical and acoustic modes. Transfer efficiency between specific pairs of chiral modes of different nature (electronic, phononic, photonic).

Topological transport of phonons (opens in new window)

Report on the transport of phonons via topologically protected edge and interface states both for few and 100s GHz phonons and a benchmarking of photon emission and transport between edge states and topologically trivial waveguides Progress towards lossless and robust transport will be presented

Synthesis of single-crystal and monolayer magnetic TMDCs (opens in new window)

Report on the synthesis and relevant characterizations of 1T TMDCs and on the innovations in the technology to fabricate the devices The report will assess the magnetic response in terms of the type and density of doping and defect concentration

Interconnect technology (opens in new window)

Report on the comparison of TOCHA approach for interconnects in terms of power budget, delay time, integration strategy respect to standard Cu based technology in VLSI. Fundamental limits on magnetism in topological insulators.

Growth of doped-(Bi,Sb)2Te3 and (Bi,Sb)2Te3/FMI heterostructures (opens in new window)

Report on the developments related the growth and characterization (structural, electrical, magnetic). The report will assess the performance in terms of the stability of the ferromagnetic phase and the observed QAHE. It will include the fabrication protocols to reduce the contact resistance.

Topological photonic waveguides (opens in new window)

Report on the propagation loss lengths in waveguides with topologically protected photonic modes The advantages of such a system over topologically trivial waveguides will be discussed and key areas for optimization of topological photonic waveguides will be identified

Design of topological waveguides (opens in new window)

Layout and report of the designs of topological waveguides for photons, phonons and combination of the two. The report will focus on design features that limit propagation losses, and create hybrid photon-phonon systems, including those where both are topologically protected and where topological photonic waveguides overlap with phononic bandgaps. Layouts for fabrication (dxf files) will be included. These designs will provide input to Task 1.4 in WP1 for device fabrication. The report will also include fabrication details.

Limiting factors on the edge state transport stability (opens in new window)

Report on temperature dependence and critical current of the edge states and strategies for increasing their robustness in both diluted and intrinsic magnetic topological insulators. Emergent magnetism in TMDCs towards the observation of the QAHE. Effects of metal doping, defects, and strain of the magnetic and transport properties of the material. Open software.
