Cost-Effective Robot Control System

Objective

The project aims to achieve significant cost reductions in the development, production and adaptation of robotised manufacturing systems. An innovative step in this direction is expected through combining the knowledge and experience of major European manufacturers of robotised manufacturing systems and controllers towards the elaboration of a validated specification of a robot control kernel to serve as an industry standard.

The work includes detailed specification of the interfaces and the definition of the rules for design and implementation of the robot control kernel. Several tests within the industrial environment of various applications on prototype demonstrators will contribute to its validation. The CEROS project will thus enable the development of cost-effective, flexible, user-configurable control systems that will enable users, many of whom are SMEs, to develop or adapt these systems to their specific applications.

A potential outcome of this project is the creation of new markets by the introduction of robotised manufacturing systems into fresh application areas.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
