Problem/issue being addressed:
The higher the standard of living is, the more demand we have for conveniences of living. But traffic, noisy equipment, modern lifestyle is causing more and more noise pollution. The effects: tense, sleep disturbance, insomnia, high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases.
Construction industry is trying to give an answer to the increasing problem of noise:
- Noise barriers are used along railway lines and motorways,
- More and more buildings are built of soundproof building materials.
- More and more partition walls are made of soundproof partition wall bricks.
Market surveys prove: When it comes to noise protection, there is no need to be a very cheap solution, the need is to be reliable and efficient.
Why is it important for society?
We have been studying and searching for architectural solutions of health- and environment-conscious living. Among the many solutions that we have been studying in recent years, we found that “very concentrated mineral bricks without firing” have the best noise protection capability - while their calculated cost of production is below alternative solutions.
We worked out a mineral based building unit with several additional advantages. The most important ones:
- utilization of huge amount of industrial waste,
- decreasing or eliminating use of high energy demanding cement,
- environment-conscious process, being recyclable (very good Life-Cycle Assessment)
- providing healthy living facilities.
What are the overall objectives?
