In this work we present SOLQC, a software tool that supports and potentially standardize the statistical analysis and quality control of OLs. The tool is designed to facilitate analysis by individual labs to obtain information about DNA libraries and to perform error analysis before or during experiments.
The aim of SOLQC was to develop a reliable quality control software for oligonucleotide libraries. Furthermore – we aimed to bring this software tool to a technical level that can position it to be possibly adapted by commercial partners/entities. The final result of this work is novel analysis tool, enabling fast and comprehensive quality analysis of synthetic oligo libraries, based on NGS data. SOLQC provides detailed statistics, information and insights about the state and quality of the library, to the user, and allows for more informed decisions on next stages of the OL experiment.
We demonstrate SOLQC by analyzing literature libraries. We also discuss the potential benefits and relevance of the different components of the analysis.
SOLQC now has a functioning website that allows for the complete analysis.
The tool is published as a paper in Bioinformatics, a leading journal in the field, read by academia and industry leaders (doi:10.1093/bioinformatics/btaa740).
SOLQC was presented in central venues of the DNA storage and synthetic biology communities. Initial contacts with a commercial partner were formed. Following the publication in Bionformatics we expect more interest in using SOLQC, from OL users in the industry, the healthcare sector and in academia.
We expect increased interest from academia and the private sector in the coming year, as the usage of oligo-libraries become more wide-spread within the biological community.
