Objective
The objectives of the project are:
to build a parallel application for medical images archiving, visualisation and processing
to develop a multiple disk, multiple network parallel data server machine.
PARCS is based on integrating results from a set of existing prototypes and products
a transputer-based parallel image database management prototype machine
the results of the HAMLET project (6290)
a radiological information system.
The resulting PAC/RIS system will offer some outstanding features:
scalability and modularity on the server and network architecture
high performance in the image retrieval speed
openness to information technology and medical standards
highly competitive price/performance ratio.
