THE ULTIMATE ROOT CANAL OBTURATION SYSTEM

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - SOFT-CORE 2K (THE ULTIMATE ROOT CANAL OBTURATION SYSTEM)

Reporting period: 2019-03-01 to 2019-07-31

Dental distributors are seeking for new products to overcome the complications of existing endodontic root canal procedures techniques. The global root canal market is expected to reach USD 21.0 billion by 2023, growing at a CAGR of ~8% during the 2017-2023 period. With Soft-Core 2K, an Endodontic Obturator Medical Class IIa product, we deliver innovation with a novel filling material applicator device composed of 100% Gutta Percha (highly biocompatible polymer). To achieve TRL9 and a successful commercialization by 2021, the technical objectives include prototyping finalization, the product development for mass production and a validation phase. Commercial objectives involve marking and commercialization agreements. Communication objectives focus on the development of commercial materials, website, presence in trade fairs. This project main goal was to assess the technical feasibility of the mentioned objectives, the commercial viability of our proposition and the financial requirements of adjusting our working prototype
We validated the technical, commercial and financial feasibility of our project and established the plan for global commercialization. Technically, we fine-tuned the formulations for both components (core plug and applicator), improve their design and built a roadmap to finalize the prototype. We analyzed the root-canal obturation sector and the needs of our customers. We identified key market drivers, market barriers and risks and established mitigation actions. We studied our competition landscape and our freedom to operate analysis validating that our technology does not infringe any existing patent. We fine-tuned our commercialization strategy and selecting key countries and a commercial networks development plan. We shaped our projected sales revenues from mid-2021 to the end of 2024.
The optimization of the root-canal filling procedure is an opportunity for improvements on the endodontic sector. Soft-Core 2K proposes an alternative to the main existing techniques and positions itself as one of the leaders of the market. It is a significantly better sealing system without using a plastic core and an adaptive approach to allow the compatibility with existing file systems (no additional investment for practitioners). This technique will imply less chair time (reduction up to 15-20% in total timing), thus reducing the anxiety that patients feel about the procedure. Soft-Core 2K will finally limit post-endodontic periapical abscess.
