Spectral Energy Management System for appliance-level analytics, control, and microgrid renewables trading.

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - SpecEMS (Spectral Energy Management System for appliance-level analytics, control, and microgrid renewables trading.)

Reporting period: 2019-03-01 to 2019-08-31

Linc has developed an electrical spectrum analyser that samples a building’s electrical signal over two million times a second. This single device can detect power consumption of individual appliances with an accuracy of up to 96%. Our platform features cloud-based Machine Learning algorithms to deliver precise AI analytics of usage patterns, allowing energy analysts to recommend actions to save money. It is equipped with built-in controls for automation and demand-response to enable the microgrid billing and trading of renewable energy.

Addressing the global problem of reducing carbon emission Linc platform closes a major gap in the Building Energy Management (BEM) space and resolves the issues of:

1) insufficient access to energy data and analytics tools which means that no one knows how to invest in improving their energy efficiency; and
2) lack of the infrastructure to buy and sell renewables, resulting in no incentive to invest in clean energy.

Linc aims to empower facility managers, energy consultants, and electric utilities with effective tools for electrical data analytics and control. Our inexpensive and easy to install hardware, low-price subscription model, suits any type of building. Our closest competitors all cost 30-160 times more. A basic calculation of the share of inefficiently used electricity at the average cost per kWh shows that Linc’s total addressable market for the EU building sector is about €4.27 billion.
Linc implemented small-scale pilots that then formed the basis for extensive interviews with key stakeholders across our value chain. This resulted in a refined understanding of Linc's ideal target customer segments, unique selling propositions, risks and opportunities, market potential and barriers to entry, as well as initial market traction.

The work performed during this activity has resulted in a detailed business plan covering all aspects of Linc as a technology and company. It has also specified, in detail, our upcoming commercialisaton and development objectives.
As part of our analysis of the competitive landscape, Linc was found to be disruptive on the basis of cost, ease of use, interoperability, scalability, and general technical superiority in features and functions. Our feasibility report and business plan specify the market-creating potential of an enabling technology that positively impacts social, economic, and environmental parameters at a global scale.
