European Networking for satellite Telecommunication Roadmap for the governmental Users requiring Secure, inTeroperable, InnovativE and standardiseD services

Project description

Secure satellite communications for governmental users

Satellite communications are rapidly deployable as well as flexible and omnipresent. This is particularly important in cases where terrestrial infrastructure is damaged, overloaded or does not exist. Under the leadership of the European Global Navigation Satellite Systems Agency (GSA), the EU-funded ENTRUSTED project will identify the needs and requirements of secure satellite communication end users. Moreover, it will contribute to the formulation of guidelines, in terms of user-orientated activities, for the future EU GOVSATCOM programme. To identify user needs, the consortium has set up a network of governmental users, which will be expanded to include other interested governmental and institutional users of secure satellite communication services. The project responds to the growing need in Europe for secure communications for the benefit of its citizens.

Objective

The ENTRUSTED consortium proposes to establish a Network of Users for governmental Satellite Communications, with the aim to achieve a reliable collaboration and coordination between them to eventually agree on common user needs and requirements, to share information about existing and planned future SatCom capabilities and to have a framework to establish symbiotic relationships when beneficial for the partners. The main project's results will be a consolidated set of institutional EU user requirements for secure SatCom services and a long-term Roadmap and Coordination plan for research and innovation activities related to the user technologies, to serve as reference guidelines for the future user related activities and pave the way for a potential future EU GOVSATCOM programme.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.

CSA - Coordination and support action
