Description du projet
Linear actuators are the workhorse of modern production facilities, allowing to move, rotate, push, pull, product on the assembly line. Pneumatic and hydraulic actuators are by far the most adopted solutions, even though they represent one of the weakest links in the production chain. The main headaches for plant managers derive from frequent leakages, complex and expensive infrastructure, lack of precision and high energy cost. Electric actuators are seen as a potential revolution in the field, but lag behind the alternatives due to very high cost, size and weight, which allow their use only in few limited applications. KOMP-ACT, a high-tech company founded by senior experts in industrial automation, has developed Modula, a unique cost-effective electric actuator which will enable the transition from the current pneumatic and hydraulic technologies to sustainable electric solutions for increase of productivity as well as for environmental benefit. We have co-developed the solution with our initial target end-users, which are primarily manufacturers of food processing and packaging machinery, to help them transition from pneumatic/hydraulic to electric technologies. We are now at a stage of the development roadmap where industrialization plays a key role. In this sense, we need to integrate the demonstrator in real production facilities, collect a full set of requirements and specifications by end-users for industrialization and engineer the device for large scale manufacturing (Phase 1), which will pave the way to extensive pilot testing and go-to-market (Phase 2). The successful development of this innovation project will allow us to scale-up to reach 100,000 units sold by 2023, generating a turnover of 35M€ and an EBITDA of 25% - 30%, in line with the standard in this industry. KOMP-ACT is incorporated in Canton Vaud and have concluded an initial pre-seed round which will allow the company to introduce its first products to early customers.
