Today, maritime transport is the most preferred mode of cargo transport with 90% of all goods in the world being transported by sea. Shipping industry currently faces many challenges especially with respect to fuel emissions, costs and efficiencies. Monitoring and reporting of ship performance and efficiency is an important activity for shipping companies to stay ahead of competition and to make sizable profits. However, the current solutions are time consuming to prepare, inaccurate due to changing time zones, dynamic weather patterns etc and expensive as they need on-board hardware equipment. A survey conducted by We4Sea with 30 shipping companies showed 80% continue to use the manual reporting as the method of reporting and 67% of these companies acknowledged the inaccuracy of data collected. The monitoring and control of fuel is a priority goal for international organizations like World Shipping Council, International Maritime organization and European Commission etc, as shipping accounts for at least 3% of global greenhouse gas emissions alone and if not regulated it could produce 17% of global emissions by 2050. SuPREmE is a disruptive technology solution that used sophisticated AI and ML systems to monitor and report fuel consumption and vessel performance. The platform keeps the charterers informed about the vessels during voyages and provides actionable suggestions to improve efficiency and reduce consumption. Through SuPREmE We4Sea aims to save 100 million tonnes of C02 in the coming two years and improve shipping efficiency by more than 6%.
