Project description
Innovation on the Balearic Islands
The Balearic Islands region, which constitutes the westernmost archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea off eastern Spain, is an area whose smart growth will benefit the EU. To this end, an increase in the efficiency and effectiveness of investments in research, development and innovation will be supported by the EU-funded IBINNO project. Specifically, IBINNO will act as an access point to the innovation and internationalisation system in the Balearic Islands region. Moreover, it will establish a service for enhancing the innovation management capacity of SMEs in the area, contributing to a better and more efficient connection of stakeholders in the innovation fabric.
Objective
The overall IBINNO project objective is the establishment of a feasible and effective service for enhancing the innovation
management capacity of SMEs in the Balearic Islands region. This will benefit the smart growth in the European Union by
increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of investments in research, development and innovation and by contributing to a
better and more efficient connection of stakeholders in the innovation fabric.
The work plan is based on two work packages conducted for the two types of service that will be offered to two different
groups of companies:
• Beneficiaries of:
- The current SME Instrument, FTI and FET-Open.
- The new Enhanced European Innovation Council (EIC) which includes the EIC Pathfinder pilot (grant only), comprising FET-Open and FET-Proactive; and the EIC Accelerator pilot (grant only and blended finance), building upon the SME Instrument. The Enhanced EIC pilot also includes the Fast Track to Innovation (FTI) calls.
• SMEs with significant innovation activities and/ or a high potential for internationalisation.
IBINNO H2020 envisages a reinforced link with the B2EN COSME, and by combining both programme support, the B2EN
Consortium in the Balearic Islands will become a one-stop-shop for business and innovation support along the entire value
chain. The Consortium will integrate both H2020 and COSME programme activities implementing a common client-centric
approach on a “hub and spoke model” structure and applying the Network client journey when necessary.
IBINNO will act as access point to the innovation and internationalization system in the Balearic Islands region, which will be
in this new period covered by Balearic Islands Enterprise Network B2EN consortium, embedding the EEN innovation
services in the regional innovation ecosystem.
