Summary of the context and overall objectives of the project

One of the biggest challenges with today´s supply chain is low visibility of the cargo, which means that the risks are not mitigated, there is a very low trust between the parties which in turn translates into high damages and costs.

In the light of the current coronavirus pandemic, the supply chain visibility takes another dimension. The effects of the lack of vital information have led into late, reactive and uncoordinated response to the disruptions. For example, this problem has been very prominent with personal protective equipment for the medical personnel, in some areas for the retail food and especially in the consumer electronics supply chain which has been affected by the closing down of manufacturing capabilities in China.

Arviem´s ARMS solution allows to have all the information in fingertips to drastically reduce risks and create timely and accurate responses to disruptions in supply chain. The second part of the solution is AWCS that provides the global importers and exporters off balance sheet trade financing with an unmatched price due to the high trust level between parties gained from complete supply chain visibility. The EIC Accelerator project´s main objective is to bring ARMS and AWCS to full technical and commercial readiness stage.

Work performed from the beginning of the project to the end of the period covered by the report and main results achieved so far

Technical feasibility: after analysing all technical aspects needed to complete, data needs and potential providers, we have defined a work plan to bring ARMS and AWCS to TRL9, including tasks, costs and risk mitigation.
Commercialization and exploitation strategy: we carried out a market study regarding trade finance, risk assessment and target verticals, defined pricing, market entry and dissemination strategies, barriers to overcome, end users, partners and providers to assure commercialization and scale up. We evaluated the commercial risks and mitigation measures.
Financial feasibility – we translated the business plan into updated financial projections and business indicators, such as ROI, NPL and IRR taking into account our investment needs until TRL9.

Progress beyond the state of the art and expected potential impact (including the socio-economic impact and the wider societal implications of the project so far)

The feasibility study allowed us define ARMS and AWCS to create detailed product specifications matching the current global supply chain expectations and concerns. Further it helped up to start to understand the potential that ARMS and AWCS will have on the reduction of food waste and on CO2 savings related to transport and packaging.
By 2026 we will reach a revenue of €98.4 million and create 215 new FTE.
