Evolift provides the world’s first remote-controlled marine technology lifting unit solution that are able to connect and release cargo that are moving due to waves, wind and currents on the surface of the sea, without interaction of personnel. Consequently, we save time, lower costs, and eliminate personnel risk in marine lifting operations. This is solving a huge challenge that must be solved if electrification, autonomous ships and remote rig cranes are to become a realistic alternative. The solution can further be developed to release and connect in subsea lifting operations without the assistance of Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) or divers and it can be digitalised, facilitating data gathering and analysis, and become a vital part of the logistics system.

Societal challenge to overcome: The offshore lifting decks in marine lifting operations in the oil industry, fish-farming industry, wind-farming industry, and other industries at sea are some of the most dangerous places in the world to work at, a solution to this safety issue is long sought after worldwide. The technology is patented and will be a game changer and disrupt the way lifting operations are conducted today. We are basically making existing lifting operations risk-free by moving personnel out of the danger zone when eliminating the hooking on and off operations. For the lifting operations of the future, this enables un-manned vessels and rigs with unmanned cranes to operate on their own releasing less carbon emission due to being able to operate at a wider weather widow (hence less time waiting on weather offshore), allowing for better logistics planning, shorter routes and less waiting, taking down some of the barriers for electrification of vessels

The overall objective will be to facilitate for last stages of product development, commercialization and fast scaling of the business
Evolift has developed the worlds first marine technology lifting system with a technology proven lifting unit. The intention of the feasibility study was to deliver on the following work packages:

F1 Market and competitor analysis: The findings proved that the world markets in rig, fish farming and davit cranes for daughter vessel lifting are large enough for us to scale fast and become a large multinational company within short time. We got feedback on the possible price scenarios that would exist in the different markets and we succeeded in finding partners in these markets that are willing to fund part of our cost of developing prototypes and help us with testing and initial commercialisation of the product. We mapped out our competition and found that Evolift is by far the solution with the highest TRL level at the moment and probably the best solution in the market with regards to cost and functionality.

The feasibility study also resulted in Evolift discovering a new market, davit cranes and daughter vessel lifting operations and an intentional agreement with one of the large crane producers in that market.


F2 Demonstrated design: Major outputs of the feasibility study work plan resulted in 2 prototypes being built and tested in the fish farming industry and intention of 2 prototypes in the rig market, as well as network and cooperation with some the largest companies in the world of fish farming and in the rig market as a result. Thanks to the feasibility study, Evolift is now well on the way to a project with focus on large-scale supply chain development and commercialisation within the oil and gas industry with the worlds largest rig company as partner.

F3 Cost assessment: In building protoypes we have gathered invaluable information with regards to the cost of the product and supply chain overview giving us confidence in the margins we can achieve on the product

F4 Detailed phase 2 development plan: Work packages and partner in commercialisation of the prototypes have been settled and we are ready to start a phase 2 project


F5 Regulations and IPR analysis: Evolift have established freedom to operate and now have patents and patents pending because of the feasibility study, we will seek to further strengthen our competitive advantage by contracts with customers.

F6 Detailed business plan: A business plan has been developed and, and in the process, we have learned that different business models will suit the different markets. We must customise and adapt according to how the current markets behave.

Dissemination has been mainly through our web page and direct contact with the potential customers in the marketplace
The feasibility study has helped us in further developing the system. As we have made more prototypes, we have gained learning and experience that we have implemented in the next prototypes. At the same time we have discovered completely new markets that we did not focus on before the feasibility study.

We expect to further develop the technology through a phase 2 project as well as commercialize and scale the business together with our customers. The main direct impact will be increased safety offshore, more efficient and less costly lifting operations, more effective logistical and route planning with less burning of fuel and releasing of Co2 from supply ships waiting for weather and less damage of material goods as containers are not bumped into each other as often. The solution also makes it possible to implement unmanned rigs and autonomous ships into positions where dynamic lifting situations might occur.

Indirectly, if we succeed in scaling our business we will create more jobs and tax income.
