Cerebellar Rhythmic Entrainment with Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation: A new approach for the study of cerebellar connections with the cortex.

Project description

Insight into brain connections

The nervous system allows us to adapt our motor system to rapid environmental changes. This takes place through the exchange of information at specific anatomical connections between the cerebellum and the motor cortex in the brain. Scientists of the EU-funded cRETMS project aim to shed light on the dynamics of this connection, which is poorly understood. Using a range of state-of-the-art methodologies, they will study the anatomical and effective connectivity between the cerebellum and the motor cortex. The project's results will not only provide a mechanistic understanding of brain connectivity but will also contribute to the design of new interventions for enhancing human motor performance.
