European Database for Multiscale Modelling of Radiation Damage

The automated post-processing of microstructural experimental data will be described, including the last version of CLOCK toolkit. Particular tests will be run on the ENTENTE database.

Identify user cases of the database for validation of modelling tools or data extraction and explore technical specifications of the database

Machine learning (ML) as regression tool, ML in microstructure descriptors and damage identification, and development of ML algorithms for accelerated LTO estimation (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

The favoured choice of machine learning approaches is delivered to be most feasible for data mining (regressional toolset) and validity/error screening. In addition, selected ML routines will be tested in their ability to predict meaningful factors affecting microstructure and its evolution, hardening and embrittlement by neuron irradiation of nuclear vessel steels. Furthermore, tailored algorithms will be produced to serve various data treatment and predictive purposes that envelope RPV embrittlement and aging. Machine vision/learning toolset is functional to automatically operate and store data from microstructural images. Easy-to-use software packages are prepared and demonstrated in the ICME workflow.

ICME workflow and thus Process–Structure–Property– Performance (PSPP) causalities will be established linking multiple simulation and experimental scales. The effect of embrittlement/aging (performance) is assessed in relation to LTO making use of other WP3 and WP4 tasks; the bridging of different scales and methods for accelerated analysis routine.

Irradiation spectra uncertainty impact on mechanical properties of irradiated steel (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

The deliverable consists of establishing links between irradiation characteristics, radiation damage and local mechanical properties in RPV microstructures using the database in WP2, comparing with experimental data in WP3, and feeding the data to the simulation models in WP4. Identification and sensitivity analysis of embrittling factors and defining damage descriptors will be performed.

The report will describe the experimental and modelling data acquisition combined with data analysis, including acquisition of a large experimental dataset of local strains (DIC) superimposed with crystalline orientations (EBSD); acquisition of a large numerical dataset of 3D stress and strains fields resulting from large scale simulations of 3D polycrystalline aggregates with a free surface as in experiment (AMITEX_FFTP code); development of a 2D statistical analysis of surface strain fields, and their correlations with the field of crystalline orientation, in order to compare experiment and simulation

The deliverable summarizes accumulated evidence on chemical heterogeneities of the investigated RPV steels and their effects on the irradiated microstructures in terms of number density, size and composition of irradiation-induced nano-features as well as segregation to extended defects.
