Parallel Charme for User Technologies

Objective

The objective of PARACHUTE is to provide commercial end-users with access to high-performance parallel decision-making applications.

The project is composed of two parts:

The first aims at providing end-users with a high level technology, which consists of a parallel version of ILOG SOLVER, a constraint handling programming system developed and supported by ILOG. The parallelisation of SOLVER will be built on the multiprocessors computer ESCALA from BULL and SPARC 1000 from SUN.

The second part consists of the implementation, test and evaluation of a European end-user application dealing with airline crew scheduling and optimization problems, on the Parallel ILOG SOLVER. This application is highly compute-intensive and is proven to require high performance and parallel systems to run efficiently, due to the numerous types of constraints which have to be taken into consideration.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
