Objective
OBJECTIVES
The radical changes affecting economies and more directly influencing the labour market tend to affect peripheral regions even more. The objective of this project is to stimulate co-operation between schools and local trade and industry and at the same time to develop and test the optimal and potential use of new technology and methods of open and distance vocational training. Teachers and tutors, vocational guidance counsellors and SMEs or micro-enterprises from the handicraft industry will have the opportunity to meet and interact within a strategic framework customised to local practices and needs.
ACTIVITIES
The partners will create, adapt and implement open and distance learning courses designed to develop highly qualified human resources, with particular regard to emerging technologies and their impact in rural areas. The core activities will involve locally based training actors who normally mediate between school and enterprise. The training modules in open and distance training will develop a new role for teachers, tutors, guidance counsellors and in-company trainers within vocational training.

- A course model for open and distance training stimulating co-operation between schools and local trade and industry, pilot-tested through four centres in peripheral regions.
- Locally adapted plans of action and guidelines designed to promote co-operation between teachers, tutors and in-company trainers.
- An evaluation of the reports.
