The scientific approach was setting up and the national constraints and needs for multidisciplinary coastal observations considered.
The Technology Gap Analysis mapped the current level of multi-platform and multi-disciplinary observations in each country.
Future development needs are considered in the Technology Roadmap.
The JERICO-RI business plan describes the establishment of a Technology Development and Integration Service Office.
- To implement innovative technologies
The scientific challenges recognized at the national level to develop and plan innovative technologies was underlined.
Information on national and regional advances and prospects for innovative technologies were collected.
Through e-JERICO, thematic services will support the implementation of innovative technologies.
The JERICO-RI business plan has developed a business model and services estimation model focused on 5 expert centres to deliver services that will enable the implementation of innovative technologies.
The study of human resources currently committed to the JERICO-RI clearly shows the JERICO-RIs capacity to ensure the implementation and further development of innovative technologies.
The JERICO Label Committee is supporting the implementation of innovative technologies for coastal observation.
- To implement innovative technologies allowing better interaction with operators and users
e-JERICO technical design includes both a Virtual Research Environment (VRE) and the capacity to implement fit-for-purpose thematic services that facilitate the interaction between users and operators.
The Business plan describes the Business Model that will be used to implement innovative technologies allowing better system interaction with users.
The JERICO Label Committee is supporting the implementation of innovative technologies for a better system interaction with operators and users to elaborate products.
- To better foster the relations with the various users, to better understand their needs
Challenges and societal needs at the national level were prioritized.
The Technology Roadmap considered how to expand interactions with modelling and remote sensing groups and with the private sector.
e-JERICO aims to provide a unique entry point to help the users to take advantage of the services and features.
The User and Stakeholder strategy gives a defined vision about the RI user community.
The JERICO Label Committee is fostering relations with the various users. The JERICO User requirements and classification and the User and Stakeholder engagement strategy are presented.
- To set up collaborations with other Research Infrastructures and initiatives of the marine and environmental domains
The scientific synergies with other marine and environmental RIs at the national level were addressed.
The Technology Roadmap suggested securing technology synergies with other Research Infrastructures and similar initiatives.
In the technical design of e-JERICO, several key e-infrastructures have been approached in order to avoid starting from scratch the future development of e-JERICO.
The analysis of the European RI landscape allowed us to identify regions of overlap, shared interest, but also clear delineations between RIs.
The JERICO Label Committee Terms of Reference have specifically considered the cooperation on specific issues of common interest with similar groups/committees in other European and non-European Research Infrastructures or Organisations.
- To set up a sustainability framework
Elements for the design of JERICO-RI technology, taking advantage of the strong commitment of the participating countries were provided.
The outlined strategy roadmap for implementation of e-JERICO, describes the next steps of the life cycle of its development by considering funding and capabilities criteria with different scenarios of sustainability.
A comprehensive, robust fit for purpose Business Plan was delivered. The sustainability framework is underpinned by 5 Pillars.
The Conceptual Design Report of the project is presenting the synthesis elements to support a sustainability framework to continue what has already been started by a powerful collaborative framework.
