Deliverables

Performance evaluation and guidance documentation

Part one of the deliverable will describe the principles and ideas of the safe innovations approach (SIA). The report will point out pivotal information to assess the risk potential of hybrid and multicomponent nanomaterials, instruments and methods for each stage of the SIA.Part two of the deliverable will be a documentation scheme for a pre-regulatory safety dossier, suitable for risk communication and regulatory purposes. It will be the final report on the Safe Innovations approach, delivered at the end of the project duration and will report relevant standardisation actions regarding SbD.

Bioaccumulation and persistency evaluation of selected NMs

Report describing the bioaccumulation at the entry-point of the trophic chain, according to the data obtained for algae and daphnia, and the possibilities of biomagnification according to the data obtained for fish. Since persistency of the NMs plays a key role in bioaccumulation by determining the availability of NMs for organisms, the report will incorporate the results of the persistency studies.

Open access repository of mRNA single cell response profiles detected in lung tissue flowing pulmonary exposure. Report on the comparison of lung single cell response profiles of (intubated ventilated) inhalation and instillation exposed rodents.

Sector-specific categorisation scheme of multi-component nanomaterials based on specific concerns, the suitability of SbD concepts, the SIA and elements of the DSS tool for decision steps in innovation management at SME and industry

The categorisation scheme will use all sector-specific criteria to maximize the effectiveness of the SbD process for different sectors, including the categories established by appropriate risk matrices, and will thus lower the hurdle of SbD implementation in industry and SME.

Testing of the HARMLESS guidance and DSS tool that lead to SbD target specifications, which were implemented and their effectiveness to safer innovation verified

This deliverable summarises the results of the implementation of the HARMLESS SbD strategies on three case studies with experimental verification into real industrial practice, including lessons learnt for future SbD schemes. An interim report is provided to WP4, WP5 by M34

HARMLESS database with extensions to handle advanced materials

The report will include description of HARMLESS-eNanoMapper database setup, content and ontology annotations, and the implemented approach of advanced materials representation.

Final HARMLESS DSS and user manual

The final HARMLESS DSS with manual will be made online available to end-users and stakeholders. The finalized HARMLESS DSS will now incorporate the finalized interfaces and functionality based on the second use experience of the system by end-users performing case studies and stakeholder feedback.
