Improving science and research outreach in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The European Researchers' Night events organised in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2020 are striving to bring researchers closer to the general public, helping reshape the connection between research, creativity and entrepreneurship. The EU-funded RiNG-20 project comprises a flagship science promotion event to support public recognition of researchers and their work and highlight achievements by local scientists and research-driven entrepreneurs. The project will also address the impact of research on people’s daily life and encourage young people to embark on research careers. RiNG-20 aims to reach over 1 million people during its awareness raising campaign and involve at least 20 000 participants in the events it will organise across 10 cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Objective

The European Researchers' Night in Bosnia and Herzegovina 2020 (RiNG-20) aim is to bring researchers closer to the general public and to shape deeper connection between research, creativity and entrepreneurship. RiNG-20 will be a flagship science promotion event in BiH while continuing to work on increasing awareness of research and innovation potentials in BiH, supporting public recognition of researchers and promoting achievements by local scientists and research-driven entrepreneurs, addressing research impact on people’s daily life, and encouraging young people to embark on research careers. Shortly, main objectives are: Enhance researchers’ public recognition; Increase awareness about research results, especially regarding the daily lives of citizens; Stimulate interest in research careers, in particular amongst young people facing a career choice.
RiNG-20 slogan is “Discover Hidden Treasures”, dedicating 2020 edition to specifically highlight “hidden treasures” of Bosnia and Herzegovina – while focusing as much on natural as well intellectual resources of this country. RiNG-20 is a multidisciplinary STEAM event, aiming to highlight people in Science, Technology, Entrepreneurship, Arts and Makers in BiH and Western Balkan region. RiNG-20 is a science festival of national character, involving coordinated actions in at least ten cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and incorporates cross-border aspect by involving researchers and research-driven business from the Balkan region as participants in RiNG activities.
RiNG-20 is aiming to reach over 1 million people during awareness raising campaign and involve at least 20.000 participants in the organized events during 2020 by implementing European Researchers’ Night in ten cities of BiH.
