Project description
Reference standards for monitoring the presence of chlorinated paraffins
The production of chlorinated paraffins (CPs), which are persistent organic pollutants, continues, despite being prohibited worldwide. Even though CPs are used in a range of applications posing a danger to both humans and animals, there is a lack of efficient and widely accepted reference standards, depriving us of accurate analysis and monitoring of CP presence in water, soil and foods. The EU-funded greenREF project will develop a CP Certified Reference Materials production platform that will include pure native standards, 13C-labelled CPs and innovative analysis methods for CP measurements. The work will allow analysts to deliver a precise and meaningful analysis of CP presence in the environment as well as their monitoring and control.
