Business management learning programmes for self-learning in the workplace and distance-teaching with computer simulation

Objective

Economic changes on international markets, recent European legislation, work organisation changes in companies, greater demands on quality management, and increased competitiveness all necessitate permanent adaptation of employees' qualifications and skills in companies of all sizes. Autonomous self-learning in the workplace has proven to be an efficient method of continuously updating knowledge and skills where it is supported by suitable learning media. The objective of this project is for partners with know-how and practical experience in industry and vocational education to promote independent continuing training in the workplace through the development of business management learning programmes and implementation of a distance-curriculum game with computer simulation.

The intention is to develop business management learning programmes for company control with due regard for the EU directive concerning the drawing-up of annual accounts as well as optimisation of production processes, with particular regard for quality management in accordance with ISO 9000 ff. The forming of learning teams in the partner countries will serve to strengthen inter-disciplinary skills and the capacity for teamwork. The distance-curriculum game will elucidate business management contexts and correlations and is suitable for supporting networked thinking and the understanding of complex processes. Besides promoting teamwork, this approach takes account of the current qualification needs of companies with regard to updating business management know-how. The learning programmes will be suitable for use in the initial and continuing vocational training of employees in companies of all sizes.

Impact
With due regard for quality management aspects, this project promotes self-study with the help of new information technologies as well as the application of multimedia learning products.
