Training teachers/tutors in teletraining

Objective

Existing vocational training resources are inadequate for dealing with the collective needs of disabled and underprivileged people. Distance learning is an effective means of catering for such needs, but teachers and tutors themselves need to be trained so that they can work with telematic and computer media. This project will therefore design and develop a course for distance learning teachers/tutors, focusing on the use of new technologies. The main tasks of the project are:
- to identify the needs of distance learning teachers working in the partners' institutions;
- to prepare course contents and materials using common criteria;
- to adapt and translate the course content into the languages of all the partners;
- to develop computer support materials that are suitable for telematic use;
- to undertake on-going evaluation and dissemination of the results.

The partners hope to produce the materials in Spanish, Galician, Portuguese, English, French, Italian and Dutch.

Impact
The project will have an important impact on the training of trainers with regard to distance learning methodologies, new telematics media and people with special needs.
