Objective
The aim of the project is to develop a system allowing the collection, organisation and preservation of any type of material (photograph, drawings, picture, films, sound recordings, etc.) having direct and/or indirect relevance to the cultural heritage of the region of Epirus located in the North-western part of Greece.
The system will result in the production of an image database within the multimedia concept and the production of two CD-ROM titles targeting different audiences. The project is a pilot that could be applicable to similar cases in other European and Eastern European countries.
The approach used by the consortium will be to
_ use existing technologies,
_ develop appropriate tools by adapting/customising existing tools,
_ collect data and information related to the cultural heritage of the region using experts knowledge in the field,
_ address copyright issues.
The project will contribute to
_ the promotion of multimedia technologies in other fields,
_ increase the number of visitors in the region of Epirus,
_ transfer of experience gained to other application sectors,
_ the cultural upgrade,
_ bring in contact scientists in the field with the cultural heritage of the region,
_ the development of a methodology/multimedia platform applicable and transferable to other regions.
The consortium will address the exploitation of results and promotional issues of the products in the areas of tourism, art, scientific applications, etc. The partners have agreed to cooperate on this topics and a specific task has been included to achieve the exploitation and promotion plan preparation.
