Objective
The emergence of the new telemarketing/teleservices sector in a number of European countries has resulted in the creation of thousands of new jobs. Many of these jobs are in European call centres where staff deal with customers all over Europe from a centralised location on the basis of a freephone facility.
To meet these skill needs the partners aim to provide a comprehensive training scheme based on a language needs analysis of this sector. Focusing on four languages (French, English, German and Dutch), a curriculum will be designed and training tools developed which are appropriate for guided self-study and targeted at disadvantaged groups in society: women; people with disabilities; and migrant workers. An unified accreditation system will be set up for the training programmes. It is intended that the model and materials will be easily transferable to other languages and target learners.
Impact
The training schemes will lead to the growth of a pool of labour with highly developed language skills which will assist in the growth and development of the telemarketing/teleservices sector.
