Objective
The ever-increasing requirements of professions in vocational training programmes have, together with the changed socio-cultural conditions for young people reaching adulthood, made the phenomenon of youngsters breaking off their initial vocational training without having achieved a qualification an urgent problem in many countries of the European Union. The negative developments affecting the initial vocational training system represent a serious obstacle to the professional prospects of the young people concerned. The aim of this project is, therefore, to promote and support young people in danger of not completing or not successfully completing their vocational training for the most varied of reasons (lack of previous education, individual learning weaknesses, consequences of socio-economic disadvantages, emotional and social problems of adolescence, etc.) through providing additional specialist and non-specialist assistance.
The objective is to facilitate the integration of those young people who are threatened with social isolation into working life; to improve their occupational prospects and labour-market opportunities; as well as to strengthen their ability and readiness to engage in continuing vocational training within the context of lifelong learning. Achievement of these objectives will focus on occupations in the electrical and plumbing and heating engineering sectors.
Impact
This project aims at preparing those responsible for initial vocational training programmes in companies and in vocational training schools to be in a better position than at present to help young people develop their aptitude for employment and the work process, and to successfully complete their training.
