Advanced modelling of visual information processing

Objective

This research has combined a fast growing, agro-forestry ecosystem, capable of elevated biomass production, with a large-scale FACE system, one of the few available in the European Union on a forest tree stand. The FACE facility has utilized a novel technology, originally developed by European institutions, based on the release into the atmosphere, at sonic velocity, of pure carbon dioxide instead of an air-CO2 mixture. The research activities conducted at the POPFACE site have drawn scientists from several European countries to integrate physiological observations at the leaf level with measures carried out at the whole tree and also ecosystem scale. Carbon sequestration over the entire crop rotation cycle has been assessed by final harvest of the tree plantation combined with carbon accounting of the root and soil components.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
