Objective
The application of multimedia and communication technologies in learning and training processes entails rapid and radical changes in professional competence and in the working methods of teachers, trainers and tutors. The change calls for reflection on the nature of cognitive and social processes that can be either encouraged or thwarted by technologies. The way training is organised must be revised and changed to allow for the creation of wider learning and working communities. Some countries have already started to develop national distance learning networks.
The objective of this project is to provide teachers and tutors with access to training through a telematics-based network using the internet. This will enable them to : exchange knowledge and experiences; cooperate on the development of solutions to common problems; access the most up-to-date information on theory and best educational practice; and to receive methodological and pedagogical support from centres of excellence in the field of distance training.
Those who will benefit from this project will include teachers and tutors of 314 vocational/technical schools from the four European countries involved. The model developed could ultimately be extended to a larger number of schools. A special web site will be created by the project.
Impact
The outcomes of this project will have an impact on future policies regarding the training of teachers and tutors.
