Objective
Because of technological and economic changes, business, both nationally and internationally, is in a state of upheaval. This is leading to a change in the employment profiles for trainees and workers, which in turn has an impact on vocational schools and firms with corresponding training facilities or in-house provisions. For example, extensive demands on social, commercial, and public services are emerging and are being made in addition to traditional activities, a customer-centred approach is becoming more prominent, decentralised organisational structures such as the "profit centre" are becoming more common, and performance orientation, teamwork, and communication are now often more important than traditional hierarchical structures and mechanisms for advancement. Learning objectives predominantly involve knowledge and information; the teaching of social skills and the ability to do business are largely absent.
The pilot project will concentrate, by way of example, on the reform of the job profile for a "real estate agent," which will be the basis for a transferable model which will be able to be used in other business contexts. In the project, materials will be developed to increase active business competence and the communicative abilities of the trainees; situational acting instructions (e.g. for advisory and sales use) will be devised, as will a learning module which gives more time to, and redefines, the field of marketing. The training will be nationally certified and given Europe-wide impact by its integration into the curricula of the partner countries.
Impact
Through the project the outline school curriculum will be expanded in content, teaching methods will become more action-oriented, and business education will become more suited to actual need. EU-wide recognition will create the possibility of studying educational units in a partner country.
