Objective
Many young people have very little knowledge of the job market and generally have professional expectations which either aim too high or too low. Appropriate self-evaluation and job search tools are needed. Such tools would give young people an improved knowledge of the job market and enable them to enter the workforce more easily.
This project will develop such self-evaluation tools, in software format, for students approaching the end of vocational education. 500 students will be invited to take part in pilot trials for the tools. They will be asked to assess themselves with regard to their social skills, physical ability and vocational knowledge. They will then be taught how to contact future employers, by telephone, by mail or directly, and how to find relevant information about the European job market.
The project will include a final seminar during which the results will be discussed and disseminated to representatives of industrial and trade union associations, headteachers, teachers and parents. The self-evaluation and job search tools will be available in an easy-to-use software form. A final report will be also produced by the partners.
Impact
The project will facilitate the entry of young people into the labour market, and promote labour mobility across Europe.
