Objective
Major technological advances have taken place in the photographic industry with the availability of digital cameras and digital imaging on computers. Photographers with digital imaging skills are needed to ensure the continuing development of the industry. However firms are small, geographically dispersed and without the resources to provide training themselves.
This project aims to provide skills training for photographic SMEs through the design and testing of a transnational distance learning approach to digital imaging. The partnership will develop a 50-60 hour practical training programme organised in two parts : a short course under the guidance of a trained tutor, covering such areas as basic skills in digital imaging and the commercial opportunities of digital products, will be followed by practical skills training using a self-study, distance learning approach. For distance learning, CD-ROMs and workbooks in Danish, English and Finnish will be available, allowing trainees to choose the appropriate level of knowledge and work at their own pace.
Impact
The project will be of direct benefit to practising photographers, students of photography and trainers, and contribute to the continuing updating of training materials through the creation of a networking system.
