INVESTIGATION AND EXPLOITATION OF NATURAL AND ENGINEERED RESISTANCE TO PEA SEEDBORNE MOSAIC VIRUS IN PEA

Objective

This project aims to develop markers for natural resistance genes in pea, to PSbMV. Strains to study the mechanisms employed in such resistance and by resistance-breakers strains of the virus. It further aims to construct suitable sectors, to transform pea with virus coat protein and RNA polymerase genes and to test transformed peas for expression of resistance.
