REDUCED N-FERTILIZER INPUT BY AN INTEGRATED, LOCATION SPECIFIC MONITORING SUPPORT AND APPLICATION SYSTEM

Objective

The main objective of the proposed project is to developed and implement an integrated monitor, support and application system for efficient and reduced utilisation of N-fertilisers. The system can be implemented on farm level, relies on improved management and site specific application. It can be realized through development and implementation of the following components :

- a system for monitoring the soil, the crop during growth and the crop yield to provide location specific data;
- an integrated support system that manages location specific data which is used together with existing models to determine optimal fertiliser rates;
- techniques for accurate location specific application of fertiliser, based on the rates determined by the support systems;
- evaluation and validation of the system through field experiments.
