Objective
This project is concerned with the diagnosis, characterization, epidemiology and control of 4 viroids which infect fruit trees.
The first objective of the present proposal is to progress in the knowledge of the biology of the 4 viroids: selection of isolates introduced or present on France, Italy and Spain. Molecular characterization of different latent or marking strains. Epidemiology. Eventual study of their interactions and of the host sensitivity.
The second main objective of this project is to provide growers with healthy plants through the Institutions commissioned for the certification of VF plants, and limiting the spread of fruit trees viroids (already known and new ones) in Europe by developing rapid and inexpensive methods of viroid detection and curing.
