Objective

This project investigates cypress (Cupressus sempervirens) and other cypresses (C. dupreziana, C. atlantica and C. arizonica). The aim is through an intensive study of the current status, problems, genetic control and silviculture and yield to provide trees suitable for afforestation, wind control on agricultural sites and amenity purposes for Mediterranean areas, particularly where drought is a problem. The research activities cover the following activities: ecophysiology; pathology; crown architecture; genetics; vegetative propagation; cone insects; stand growth; and wood quality.
