A EUROPEAN NETWORK TO COMPILE AND EVALUATE DATA ON NATURAL FOOD PLANT TOXICANTS TO ASSESS RISK TO HUMAN HEALTH AND TO IDENTIFY STRATEGIES TO MINIMIZE SUCH RISK

Objective

The CA proposes to establish a network of scientists working on natural toxins in plant foods. This network will pool information, initiate and exploit information systems and evaluate potential risks by assessing the most important European dietary plant toxicants based on human exposure and toxicological potential. In addition the CA will discuss ways to reduce risk by selective breeding and processing of potentially dangerous foods.
